About
CCD stands for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, or more simply Catholic religious education for children. Through attending CCD classes, children learn about the Catholic faith as they study scripture, prayer, Catholic doctrine, and Catholic traditions. CCD also prepares students for the reception of Sacraments.
CCD classes are held on MONDAYS or TUESDAYS in October through April
Monday Afternoon 4:45 – 6:15 p.m. (Grade 1 – 3)
Monday Evening Class 6:15 – 7:45 p.m. (Grade 1 – 8)
Tuesday Afternoon 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. (Grade 1 – 3)
SACRAMENTAL PREP – IMPORTANT:
***First Communion is usually received when a child is in the second grade. Children must be enrolled in CCD Classes for both 1st and 2nd grade in order to be adequately prepared for First Communion in Late April or May of their 2nd grade year.
***Confirmation will be offered in the Spring of 2026 at the Cathedral; Preparation for Confirmation begins in the Fall of 2024 for student in grades 6 – 8. Confirmation requires 2 years of preparation.
Space is limited. If the grade level you need is filled, please choose ‘Wait List’ and you will be contacted. Priority will be given to children of Active Parishioners that attend Public School.
The following are the options for our upcoming CCD year:
Family, home-based CCD program.
Using the Spirit of Truth program, each student will have a weekly worksheet to be completed at home. Students in this program will periodically meet in person for group activities, discussion check-ins, and offerings such as Confession and wreath making during Advent.

In-person CCD classes at Our Lord Christ the King Church
Once a week your child will participate in in-person CCD classes at Our Lord Christ the King Church in the evenings.
Riverview Catholics parishioners will be given the Christ the King discounted parishioner tuition rate.
