The Shalom Coalition
Families in our community are making impossible choices between rent and other basic needs. We know that a safe, decent, and affordable place to live is the foundation for families around the globe. Through our sustainable hands-on model, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati creates opportunities for affordable homeownership. By partnering with Habitat, families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
Riverview Catholics are currently part of the Shalom coalition of churches which has built at least one house per year for over 30 years. Our work has changed the lives of numerous families in our community. Those families worked side by side with us to build their homes and earn a low-cost mortgage to purchase it.

In 2026, the Shalom coalition will build a similar, 4 bedroom house in Madisonville. The coalition works Wednesday through Saturday during the project. Come and join us for a day or multiple days of construction. No experience is necessary. You will learn but more importantly have the opportunity to change a family’s life as you work side by side with them to build their new home.
